What a surprise. Not too many people eating here for a weekend. I decided on the Malai kofta. The waitress asked me how spicy I wanted it and I said "as spicy as you'll make it". She asked me if I was certain and I laughed and said " no restaurant has been able to make anything spicy enought for me to date" ok, she says. Well, be forewarned, I felt that food traveling through my body the entire time! What a night. That being said, I was super impressed with all of the dishes that we had that night and also with the degree of spicy that the chef was able to achieve. I am uncertain though if I will order it with such intensity again! :-P delicious Indian cuisine.

I never would've thought that i'd give a 5-star rating to an Indian restaurant in a ski town but ... this place was incredible!! Tied for best Indian we've had since we moved to CO. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service was attentive without being annoying or pushy. The malai kofti and the benghan bharta were really tasty, with just the right amount of spiciness. The mango kulfi for dessert was rich and tasty. And the total price was very reasonable. We're already looking forward to going back next weekend!

This is a tough 2-stars to give. For Winter Park, this is a decent place to eat. For Indian food, there is way way better options out there if you can venture to Denver or other Mountain towns. We have been here twice. Our first trip here was very good. The service was excellent and the food was decent. Our more recent trip was not good at all. It appeared as if there were only two people working the restaurant, which left us waiting long periods of time or getting up from our table to chase down a waiter to take our order, refill our water glasses or even bring us a check. The food was not nearly as good either as it was the first time. The Mixed Tandoori grill had some tandoori grilled meats in it and some others that appeared to be "thrown in there" from somewhere else. We ordered meat Samosas and got vegetable ones, and the Vindaloo (ordered spicy) was extremely mild. To be blunt, they simply appeared bothered that we were there. They clearly need to focus on improving their service and bringing their food back up to the standards that it was (or should be) if they want to maintain a top ranking.

This place definitely had some fabulous Indian food! Some of the best Indian food that I've ever had. What's also great is the atmosphere of this restaurant as well. It's very clean and I know this is kind of silly, but I think their silverware, plate settings, tables were really nice and fitting for the restaurant. They have a full bar and great service. They were great about coming by and refilling our waters.. you know how spicy Indian food can get! I would definitely visit here again! :)

Friends and I ate there for dinner the other night and had the whole place to ourselves (it's the low season). Everyone else is missing out -- the food is incredible! We had vegetable samosas, mattar aloo, chana masala, saag paneer, raita and naan. Everything was absolutely delicious and the staff was very nice. Service was fast. Price is affordable (not cheap, not pricey). Can't say enough good things about Star of India. Hope they survive the economic downturn.

Anybody visiting Winter Park should give Star of India a try. This place has legitimate Indian food. It's a huge restaurant with nice decor and friendly staff. Their chicken soup is amazing! My boyfriend and I split the chana masala, aloo gobi, and an order of garlic naan. The portions were so big, we had enough leftovers for a second meal. I wasn't a huge fan of the sweet lassi though...couldn't taste the rose flavor.

Although it's not cheap, it's very good food. We had Samosa Chat, Vegetable Korma, and Kashmiri naan. All delicious.

The lunch buffet is awesome! It's great food, great prices, especially for Winter Park. I haven't had a chance to eat dinner there, but I've eaten the lunch buffet several times and have always walked out feeling great. They always have a big selection on the buffet and switch it up a lot so that you can try new menu items. It's a great place for people to try different Indian food. They have a good selection of vegetarian food, chicken dishes, and desert. The service is great too. They usually have plenty of seating available. I think its way better than the best place in Denver (as reviewed on yelp). Actually, I would even say it's the best Indian I've ever eaten in the country. Everyone should definitely try this place!

This place is delicious! Like others have said, totally unexpected to find such great Indian food up in the moutanins! They are fast and attentive. I had the Bhaitain Bharta and it was to die for. The malai kofta and the kashmiri naan were also amazing! YUM.

With no other Indian restaurants around these guys could easily have given us half-assed food and sub-standard service and raked in the dough. However, the food was amazing and the staff was warm and helpful. Everytime I come to Winter Park, this place will be the first stop I go.
